The Summit School District Preschool Program promotes high quality, developmentally appropriate, inclusive early learning experiences for all children. We value building relationships with families to foster the growth and development of the whole child. And we seek partnerships with organizations in our community dedicated to supporting young children and their families.

Our Program

We are dedicated to fostering a child's creativity and curiosity and a life-long love of learning. Our curriculum focuses on active exploration and discovery as a means of supporting all areas of development: social-emotional, language, cognitive and physical. Building social and emotional skills is at the heart of everything we do. Our learning environments are designed to foster exploration and investigation, cultivate social learning opportunities, and strengthen the sense community. Our teachers are highly qualified and dedicated early childhood educators.

Special Education

We provide special education and related services to preschool-aged children who have been identified with an educational disability. If eligible, an Individualized Education Program (IEP) will describe which special education and related services are required for a young learner to be successful in preschool. These services may include:

specialized instruction from an early childhood special education teacher
specialized instruction from a speech language pathologist
related services from an occupational therapist or physical therapist

The identification of an education disability begins with an appointment with the Child Find team. Children may be referred to Child Find for a developmental screening by a teacher, parent, doctor, or other agency. Information gathered during the developmental screening process will help us to determine if further assessment is needed to determine eligibility for preschool special education. If eligible, an Individualized Education Program (IEP) will be developed with specific goals to address the child's specific needs. All special education services and related services are provided at no cost to the family.

Days

We are a four day a week program meeting Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday. You can either attend 4 1/2 Days OR 4 Full Days. (determined by the early Childhood Coordinator on a case by case situation)

We follow the School District Calendar .

Times

Full Day:

DVE: 8:30-4:00

FRE: 8:30-4:00

SVE: 8:30-4:00

SCE: 8:30-4:00

UBE: 8:30-4:00

For the 23-24 School Year Classrooms will be open 8:30-4:00. With a pick up NO LATER than 4:00pm. You can pick up your child starting at 3:30 to help with the parking lot traffic across all schools.

Half Day: 8:30 AM - 12:00 PM

Requests for half-day morning slots are reviewed on an individual basis.

Tuition

4 Full Days/Week - TBD

The tuition rate is based on the total cost for the school-year program. It is not based on actual days attended. The total tuition cost for the school-year program is divided into nine equal payments.
Families will receive nine equal tuition statements from September through May from My School Bucks.
Tuition refunds are not provided for missed school days due to absences, sickness or snow days.
Tuition will be prorated for children who enroll after the Summit School District calendar start date for preschool.
Tuition is charged on a monthly basis September through May and is due by the 1st of each month.
Tuition can be paid by check or cash at either the school office or the Central Administration Office (150 School Rd, Frisco, CO 80443).

If a tuition payment is past due by 60 days, the child may be withdrawn from the program.

Free & Reduced Meal Program

Healthy School Meals for All

Summit School District is participating in the Healthy School Meals for All program! Approved by Colorado voters, the new program enables districts to offer free meals to all students.

Important Reminders for Families
Just like in previous years, families should continue to provide their household income information by completing the household application for free and reduced-price school meals either online or on paper application. While meals will be provided for free to all Summit School District students through Healthy School Meals for All, it's important for us to continue gathering this information in order to receive full access to available federal funding.

By providing this information, you will be supporting our district in accessing additional federal funds that will go directly to our schools to help cover the cost of meals, as well as after school programs and other nutritional programs for students.

Family Information is Always Confidential

All household income information provided is strictly confidential and protected by law. Only one form is required for all children in the household. Immigration, migrant, citizenship or refugee status is not required when completing the form.

Safety and Security & Inclement Winter Weather Preparedness

The key to keeping our schools safe is communication, and it is important during all stages of an emergency, especially before an emergency occurs. It is important that students who see or hear about something that concerns them at school, outside of school, or online report their concern to a trusted adult.

ENROLLMENT ORDER

You must submit a complete application to be considered for a slot which includes the following:

Applications will be processed April 1-30th. Decisions will be announced via email the beginning of May.

Applications for the 2024-2025 School year will be open for Round 2 June 1, 2024 -August 1, 2024

NOTE: Your child must be 3 or 4 years old by October 1, 2023 in order to apply for preschool.
We do not enroll children who are kindergarten age in our preschool program.
Completing the application does NOT guarantee enrollment in the SSD Preschool Program.
Incomplete applications will NOT be considered for a preschool spot. Please see the link below for a list of required documents.
Returners do not need to complete an application. They will be notified this summer to update information. Please notify your current preschool teacher if you would like to change your enrollment status or current school.

After you have submitted your application:

All applications will be reviewed in April. All missing documents will need to be submitted by April 15th.
Families will be notified by e-mail the first week of May of enrollment and cost of tuition.

We don't want the cost of preschool to deter families from enrolling!

Families who qualify for and are offered a slot in our preschool program, may receive tuition assistance to cover some, or even all, of their child's preschool tuition costs.

To help simplify the process, families are able to see if they qualify for one or more of these programs directly through the online School District Preschool Application, no need to submit separate applications for these programs.

Our Preschool Program partners with:

Universal Preschool (UPK)

Universal Preschool (UPK) Colorado ensures that every child in the year before they are eligible for kindergarten, 5 by October 1st, is eligible for half-day (15 hours), state-funded, voluntary preschool beginning in the 2023-24 school year. Three-year-olds with qualifying factors are eligible for part-time (10 hours) preschool programming. Families of children in the year before they are eligible for kindergarten with certain qualifying factors, are eligible for an additional 15 hours stacked on top of the half-day programming, bringing those children to full-day programming. UPK Colorado allows families to choose the right setting for their child, whether it is in a licensed community-based, school-based or home-based preschool setting.
